10-year-old Phoenix Biggs of Dover collects books on his birthdays to donate to the Read Aloud Delaware organization.
Phoenix’s mom Marie and Mary Randall, Kent County Coordinator of Read Aloud Delaware, join us as well to share this amazing story.
Phoenix loves to read so for his birthday, he asks for books. However, instead of keeping the books for himself, he donates them.
“I wanted children who didn’t have a chance to read a book to read a book,” Phoenix says.
Read Aloud Delaware is all about helping young children read and expand their imagination. They have many volunteers who go into schools to read to students each week.
Phoenix’s mom Marie says every even birthday, they collect books. Phoenix says they have over 1,500 books to donate at this time. He received books from 10 states; Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Texas, Kansas, California, Georgia and Pennsylvania.
