Jeffrey Benson from Seaford, Del. said the idea popped into his mind while he was brushing his teeth – 100 men initiative.
Jeff said he saw schools last year who had people dressed for success lined up welcoming the students on their first day.
He also thought about another reason to do this.
“As men, we usually do not participate in back to school activities,” Jeff says. “We are usually busy working when the kids are heading off to their first day of school. So this is a great way for us as men to show our community, to show our families and kids, that we support them – along with the staff.”
Jeff put his idea out on Facebook and within an hour, he had 20-30 shares and people were messaging him telling him it was a great idea. Women were invited as well.
“The kids in our community see lots of construction and agriculture and not much suit and ties outside of Sunday, so I thought it would be great to see men dressed up professionally on their first day of school,” Jeff says.
Jeff also says if you are a mechanic or a firefighter, you can wear that as well. He says it’s all about showing kids in the community we support them.
