Fischer has led “Quilting for Others,” for 15 years, creating more than 5,000 charity quilts along the way. The group donates the hand-stitched quilts to veterans, people in nursing homes and Delaware’s youth.
“Not only does she organize everything, but she also keeps us on our toes,” said fellow quilter Marion Lundgreen.
Fischer’s ability to lead for a good cause is obvious to her peers — demonstrating her worth as a Jefferson Award winner.
“She is a very giving and caring individual, looking out for the well being of others,” said Robin Aschenburg, another fellow quilter.
