If there’s one thing that holds true about Delmarva, it’s when there is a need, the wonderful people who live on this peninsula deliver.
Joe Merritt, is the coordinator of Operation We Care and he talks to us about items they need to fill care packages for soldiers such as:
- Baby Wipes
- Shampoo/Body wash
- Chef Boyardee Canned Pasta
- Deodorant
- Disposable Razors
- Pop Tarts
- Ramen Noodles brick
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrushes
- Instant Oatmeal
There is definitely a need for these care packaged because there has been recent deployments. Nearly 200 Maryland National Guard soldiers parted with their families Sunday at this Army base in Northern Virginia for deployment over the holidays to the Middle East. A combined 450 soldiers from the Maryland and Virginia National Guards will command nearly 18,000 troops across the Middle East – the largest contingent the 29th has led since it stormed the beaches of Normandy during World War II.
These care packages mean so much to the military while they are overseas.
Operation We Care also make donations to local law enforcement and fire departments. Find drop-off locations here.
