Friday on DelmarvaLife, we learned about the dangers of
heat stroke. Dr.
Laura Kelley, Medical Director of the Children’s National Pediatric Program at
Peninsula Regional Medical Center says heat stroke can affect any person at any age – especially athletes, young children and the elderly. She says, possible warning signs of heat stroke include:
- lack of sweat
- change in mental status
- seizure coma
A person can also experience other heat illnesses. Signs of trouble may include:
- shortness of breath
- fast heart rate
- profuse sweating
- decrease in urination
