Fishermen Rescue Stranded Boater in Chesapeake Bay
A stranded boater was rescued in the Chesapeake Bay after his sailboat overturned.
On Saturday, Nov. 19, a crew was fishing on the Chumbucket when they noticed a distressed man in the Chesapeake Bay. The man’s sailboat overturned and he was attempting to swim ashore in rough winds and 50 degree water.
Andrew Clothier was on the Chumbucket at the time and says the crew members were able to throw the man a life vest and get him to safety. The man was then brought to shore, checked out by the local fire department and picked up by his wife.
Clothier says the crew was ‘at the right place, at the right time.’
