“I hope to be able to help the vhamber and its members grow more successful, and make the Town of Georgetown a destination for everyone in the county,” Thompson said.
Thompson graduated at the top of his class from Delaware Technical Community College with an associate’s in arts degree in marketing. He finished his secondary education at Cape Henlopen High School before receiving a diploma in collision and refinishing technology from Wyoming Technical Institute.
“I like to think my varied background gives me a unique perspective when it comes to problem solving and creative thinking,” he said.
Thompson will be working with the board of directors and chamber members to establish long-range goals, plans and policies. He has more than 12 years of experience in the marketing, IT, hospitality, events and automotive fields. Thompson’s most recent position was with Tunnell Companies as director of IT and social media, where he implemented marketing programs and assisted in developing projects such as the vacation rentals program. He has managed the Baywood Clubhouse’s Valet Program in the past and helped coordinate with the events department.
Donna Koskey, who is the 2018 Georgetown Chamber president and owner of Chardon Jewelers LTD in downtown Georgetown, said Thompson’s experience across different industries will be an asset to the chamber. Koskey added that she is confident that Thompson will play a vital part in the future success of the chamber.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the chamber,” Thompson said.
