241,600 people each year receive emergency food from the Food Bank of Delaware.
That’s 25% of the Delaware population that needs emergency food. That’s where the Harry K Foundation comes in. President and Founder, Harry Keswani and Co-Chairperson of Community Outreach, Linda Jessop, join us to tell us more.
The Harry K Foundation raises money and donates 100% of the proceeds to help alleviate the problem of food insecurity in local communities. The purposes of the foundation are:
-provide information and increase awareness about childhood hunger
– promote community activities
– encourage partnership
– fund organizations that are working to reduce childhood hunger
In December, they have an annual ball to raise money to feed children. Their first ball raised $85,000 and last year they raised $205,000.
