Dr. Finegan says there are more mothers and fathers, and high school and college athletes who are using opiates – even older people. There is a public service announcement made by ToeKneePalm Productions that is trying to spread the message that anybody can be addicted to heroin.
Dr. Finegan was recently appointed to Gov. Larry Hogan’s Heroin and Opioid Emergency Task Force. The task force is trying to tackle the problem of heroin use in Maryland.
There are programs available for people who are addicted to heroin, or for those who have a loved one who is using. One of those programs is Unmask Addiction. It provides Narcan training, and other resources for those who need the support.
