PRMC – Cardiac LifeVest Can Save Lives

Friday on DelmarvaLife, we learned about a cardiac LifeVest that can help save a person’s life. The LifeVest is a wearable defibrillator. Non-Invasive Cardiologist Jennifer Eakin, DO, with Peninsula Regional Medical Center, says patients at-risk for sudden cardiac arrest can wear the LifeVest. According to LifeVest manufacturer, Zoll, “If a life-threatening heart rhythm is detected, the device delivers a treatment shock to restore normal heart rhythm.” Patients who might qualify for a LifeVest may have suffered one of the following health conditions:

heart attack
bypass surgery
congestive heart failure
stent placement
cardiomyopathy
