Jeremy Tyler, Manager of the One Stop Cafe came to teach us about the FAST program, a non-profit social enterprise training program to help facilitate people of all needs into the workforce.
The program is a 12-16 week intensive full-time training program for entry level employment into the food and service industry. It prepares graduates to enter entry level employment in targeted occupations such as short order, institution and cafeteria, restaurant cooks as well as bakers and some dietetic technicians.
Tyler said that they get mostly adults, to the program, who often need all the help they can get.
“A lot of times these people come in with less than high school education, so we tart b helping them get a GED, and work on skills for a job,” said Tyler.
They also get the opportunity to learn ServSafe handler certifications that are very valuable in the food service industry.
This program is open to anyone ages 16-24.
