Today on DelmarvaLife:
We start off our show lending a hand to our furry friends. The Office of Animal Welfare’s, ‘Delaware Animal Response Program’ is recruiting community volunteers to join it’s ‘Delaware State Animal Response Team’, as well as their specialized unit, the ‘Delaware Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps’. Tonight the group will hold a one-hour orientation at the Edgehill Shopping Center in Dover, as well as another orientation tomorrow night and on August 20th, at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center in Georgetown. Next we travel to Ocean City where we learn there is a right and wrong way to taste, and buy, wine. As we find out today on DelmarvaLife, the West-O Bottle Shop and Bar in Ocean City is a place where wine lovers, to first-time tasters can stroll through the new seven-thousand square foot space and speak with some local professionals. Owners, Dave and Sara Hambury, understand how to work with everyone from the first-time tasters to the pros, considering they started their business from scratch and worked their way to where they are now. Hear all that this amazing shot has to offer today at five!
Delmarva is known for it’s unbelievable access to pristine water, and the locals here certainly do love enjoying the water in any way possible, even in a cardboard boat. Yes, a cardboard boat. In fact, cardboard boating has it’s own event here in the Blades called the ‘Recycled Cardboard Boat Regatta‘. Today, Jimmy and Lisa sit down with Blades Town Administrator, Vikki Prettyman, and “Reclaim Our River” Volunteer, Nan Zamorski as they tell us about the event, but also how the event raises awareness towards a bigger message that affects our water. To learn more about the event, how you can get involved, or how it benefits the Delaware Watershed, visit their page here.
Sand, salt, spray, dirt, bugs, you name it. When your car is dirty it’s hard to drive around and think about anything other than getting it washed, but fitting a car wash into your schedule can be tough. Thankfully ‘The Car Wash‘ in Salisbury is ready to take care of your dirty car and within just a few short minutes. 102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus stops by ‘The Car Wash‘ to see how they wash, rinse, and repeat and help him leave with a car shining bright.
Finally it’s time to hit the kitchen and make something oh so sweet, with someone oh so sweet. Six-year-old, Hudson Lumpkin of Delmar, joins us in the DelmarvaLife kitchen today! Hudson is showing us his spin on a classic cookie, ever tried a chocolate chip cookie with an Oreo inside? Or maybe a dollop of peanut butter? Well today we learn how to make the tasty treat, today at five!
We are also giving away another gift in our ‘Summer Guide Giveaway’. One viewer will be the lucky winner of a fifty dollar gift card to Crown Sports Center in Fruitland. Will it be you? Find out today at five.
