Training to Obtain Better Jobs with Polytech Adult Education – Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015

Jeremy McEntire, Polytech’s Kent County Community Education Coordinator, shares with us that there are many people retiring from manufacturing jobs but there isn’t many trained professionals to replace these retired workers. He says this is causing current workers to work overtime to replace the retired workers.

The way the Delaware Manufacturing Development Center is trying to fix this problem is by giving existing employees assessments to test the employees knowledge on the subject and then the company trains them on things they don’t know. The two tactics the company uses is teaching the employees in the classroom and then giving hands-on learning.

After the employees get the training they need to complete the new jobs, the employees then get the opportunity to start new jobs making more money.
