By now you have probably heard the term ‘GMO.’ Do you know what it means or what it can effect? GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism and it means the process of intentionally making a copy of a gene from one plant and using it in another. According to
GMOanswers.com it was introduced into our foods in 1990 and 70 countries grow, import and/or use GMO’s.
Like with so many other things, GMo’s are coming under fire. Dr. Cecil, Registered Dietitian and Director of Dietetics at University of Maryland Eastern Shore, tells us what foods we eat that have GMO’s in them.
GMO’s:
- Corn
- Cotton
- Canola
- Soybeans
- Alfalfa
- Sugar Beets
- Papaya
