Today on DelmarvaLife:
Preliminary data from the CDC suggests that 91 people in America die everyday from heroin or opiod use. Just over the weekend, authorities in Delaware warned of a spike in overdoses in western Sussex County. EMS responded to seven reported overdoes in the Seaford and Laurel areas in a 24-hour period beginning Friday. Many people in the area are taking action to help save lives. Student Pharmacists at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Scott Baker and Oketoun Akangbe, join us in the DelmarvaLife studio to crisis here on Delmarva and an upcoming event featuring free workshops. The event is Sat., April 29 from 8 am-2 pm at the UMES Student Services Center. Participants who complete the Narcan training at the event will receive a complimentary dose of the nasal spray to take home for emergencies. To register for the event, go here.
Lt. Tim Robinson with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has a new list of most wanted for us. See today’s Most Wanted Monday here.
Being able to help those that have served our country is an incredible way to give back to local veterans and make them feel a part of the community once again. A local American Legion post and the Veterans Service Organization, as well as a few special dentists, veterans across Delmarva truly have something to smile about through a program called Veterans Smile Make-Over, Inc.
