Today on DelmarvaLife:
A goat, a dog and a penguin walk into Historic Studio D. No, seriously.
Jenny the goat joins Lisa and Jimmy on the couches, along with the chair of the Wicomico County Fair, Zach Evans. Zach runs down the list of the fun in store at the Wicomico County Fair. It takes place next weekend at Winterplace Park in Salisbury. This year marks the 81st year of fair traditions. From games, to animals, to entertainment and more, there’s something for all ages at the Wicomico County Fair. Delmar’s Jared Watson is scheduled to perform on Friday, August 18th from 6:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. Jared has shared his incredible talent on the Mid South Audio Stage in the past. We are looking forward to his performance at the Wicomico County Fair. Join the fun!

Now to the dog.
K-9 Brune, with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, also stops by Historic Studio D today. His appearance is part of a “thank you” the community. Donations to the John Brune Law Enforcement K-9 Foundation enabled the sheriff’s department to purchase protective equipment for the K-9 Unit. Brune’s handler, D.F.C. John Seichepine, along with Sheriff Mike Lewis, explain why this equipment is so vital, as the department works to protect Wicomico County.

We learn more about Peninsula Regional Medical Center‘s soon-to-be-open Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute Ocean Pines. Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr. Kurt Wehberg, tells us about PRMC’s robotic cardiothoracic surgery program, which will be offered at the new center. Dr. Wehberg says a couple of the benefits to this type of surgery is that recovery time is much shorter than a traditional surgery, and the incision from the robotic arm is much smaller. The community is invited to the grand opening of the Ocean Pines facility. It takes place Wednesday, August 30th, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., at the Delmarva Health Pavilion on Cathage Road near the North Gate.
