Nearly 18 years after our nation came under attack on September 11, 2001, local groups are still finding ways to honor first responders, and you can join their efforts from right here on Delmarva. We’ll learn about a 5K Run & Walk taking place in Lewes this weekend. It will support the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The foundation is designed to support first responders, military members, and their families. It’s named in honor of Stephen Siller, who paid the ultimate sacrifice while trying to help others on 9/11.

When you hear the words “Fountain of Youth,” what do you think? No such thing? Think again. Today we learn that there really is a “Fountain of Youth,” and it’s right here on Delmarva – in Lewes! We’ll sit down with members of the Colonel David Hall Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to hear more about this Delmarva treasure. You’re invited to see it for yourself this Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Maull House in Lewes.

We’re taking some time to make a stop in the Worcester County town of Pocomoke City, where they’re cramming a whole lot of fun into the little bit of summer we have left! The City’s Events & Downtown Coordinator, Karah Burton Lacey, stops by to get us in the loop on Concerts in the Park, Fourth Friday, Boat Docking Weekend and the Captain’s Concert. Lots going on in Pocomoke!

Find out how yoga may be able to benefit you. Local Yoga Instructor, Eva Whipple, who teaches classes at the Richard A. Henson Family YMCA in Salisbury, stops by to teach us some easy moves (so easy you don’t even have to get out of your chair!)

Katie’s never seen shrimp with the head still on it, but she gets a lesson on how they’re packed with flavor when we step into the DelmarvaLife Kitchen. Joe White, owner of The Shrimp Boat in West Ocean City, also shares a recipe for Beer-Battered, Crab-Stuffed Jalapeños – a tasty dish with a kick! The recipe is below. Enjoy!

Beer Batter

Combine together:

1 Cup of Flour

5oz of Fin City White Marlin Pale Ale

1 TBS of Shrimp Boat Seasoning

Plus a coating of bread crumbs – 1/2 Cup of unseasoned bread crumbs

For the inside we need:

8 Fresh Jalapenos

Combine the filling:

1 Pound of fresh cream cheese

1oz of chopped garlic

1 TBS of dried parsley

1 Cup of Monterey Jack Cheese

1 TBS of Shrimp Boat Spice

1/2 Pound of Back fin Crab Meat

Directions:

Mix the Filling.

Second hollow out from the top 8 jalapenos.

Stuff the filling into the jalapenos.

Next mix the beer batter.

Dip the filled jalapenos into the beer batter and dust with the bread crumbs.

Fry in 350 degree oil for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
