Today on Delmarvalife:
Here on DelmarvaLife, we tend to stay away from political discussions, but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage participation in our political system. The goal of the League of Women Voters in Sussex County is to ensure all voters, no matter their political views, are educated before they visit the polls. Find out how you can get the 411 on your candidates from a neutral source.
One sweet ride rolls into the parking lot of WBOC this afternoon. What you see above is a Porsche 1600. It’s just one of many dream cars you can gawk over at the annual Chrome City Ride, which benefits students at Benedictine School in Ridgely. The event is also bringing some serious star power to Delmarva – actresses Cindy Williams and Candy Clark from American Graffiti.
You’ll find plenty of great books at a fraction of the prices, at the Ocean Pines Library’s Annual Book Sale. Sale Co-Chair Jim Meckley joins us to talk about how this event offers thousands of above-average condition books. The book sale event will be on Friday, July 27, from 6pm to 8pm, on Saturday July 28 from 9am to 4pm, and on Monday, July 30 from 10 am to 4pm at the Ocean Pines library.
There is a new club on Delmarva that is created to help elders embrace wise living. It’s called the Owl Club, which stands for older, wiser living. Beverly White, branch director of Peninsula Home Care at Nanticoke joins us to talk about the benefits of the Owl Club. Membership is free!
We’re also learning about the Caroline-Dorchester County Fair! Caroline 4H member Ben Johnson and Dorchester 4H member Kaitlyn Bradley join us to talk about the fair, including the Royal Pageant, Children’s Day, animals and food!
