Today on DelmarvaLife:
The Maryland Emergency Management Agency has rolled out a campaign called “Know Your Zone.” With the record-setting 2017 hurricane season still fresh in most American’s minds, Know Your Zone aims to bring awareness of new evacuation zones in the state. Residents and visitors to Maryland are encouraged to visit the new interactive “Know Your Zone” web page, where they can learn more about the project.
We have yet another example of how a group of incredible people on Delmarva is coming together to meet a need. Salisbury University student Sandes Saintil stops by to tell us about a shoe drive that’s helping people in need on Delmarva. Sandes is a member of the Parkway Church of God in Salisbury. They’re collecting shoes that will be turned in for money. Sandes says those proceeds will benefit the church’s community food pantry. You may drop off unused, lightly-worn shoes to the following locations through August 5th:
- Parkway Church of God, Salisbury
- Thirst No More Christian Store, Salisbury
Many of us think about what we want to do when we retire. Some want to spend more time with family, while others want to get in some more golf or fishing on lazy days. For one Ocean Pines woman, her retirement plan was set several years ago, and this year, she finally made it happen. Now, Maureen Kennedy wants you to join her in “My Backyard.”It’s a neat shop in Ocean Pines that has everything you need to make your backyard an inviting one. We’ll also hear how the shop is part of a dream come true for Maureen.
We’re also looking forward to taking you to the Delmar Diner. If you travel up and down Route 13, you’ve probably passed it many times. We’ll meet the owners and some customers of the Delmar Diner, and find out why you’ll get more than a home-cooked meal if you visit. We’ll also see how a couple of their popular dishes are made.
Wicomico County’s Jada Lee kicks off the weekend for us on the Mid South Audio Stage. We’re looking forward to hearing more about the exciting happenings in Jada’s life. We know you’re going to love her sound as she performs two original songs for us – “No Feelings” and “Old Thing.”
