What’s Happening Today – November 19, 2020
Today on DelmarvaLife –
Someone says something you don’t hear. You say, “what?” They say it again and you still don’t understand what they said. So instead of asking them to repeat themselves, you shake your head and agree. It’s frustrating. Here’s the thing: it could be a sign of hearing loss. Here’s another thing: it could be an easy fix. Katie visits Chesapeake Hearing Centers to see how easy.
Tobacco continues to be the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. It accounts for about 30 percent of all cancer deaths. While, fewer people are smoking and smoking rates have dropped, the American Cancer Society reports about 34 million people still smoke. That could be you or someone you love. And maybe, you’re thinking today is the day to quit. We talk with Crystal Bell, the Chronic Disease and Tobacco Supervisor with the Worcester County Health Department about the Great American Smokeout.

Perhaps, one of the most important things to come out of this pandemic, is the need to shop local. To support our community by supporting local businesses. Well, there’s no need to wait until next Friday to take advantage of the incredible deals happening at Vernon Powell. 102-5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus shows us some of the amazing deals on top-to-bottom trends.
We’re putting the finishing touches on that Thanksgiving menu – and adding a twist, by throwing pumpkin into our potatoes. You have an opportunity to help local families that are struggling to make the holidays happy this year. WBOC’s Bless Our Children campaign is underway. We’ve already raised more than 24,000 dollars, but with a year like 2020 – a lot of families need help. If you’d like to donate, send us a card with a check to Bless Our Children in care of WBOC or donate online at WBOC.com. From the bottom of our hearts – we thank you for giving during such a difficult year.
